Laser Facial

Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light (laser) to remove unwanted hair.

About Laser Facial

Laser skin resurfacing is a procedure designed to improve the appearance of the skin by reducing wrinkles, scars, discoloration, and lesions (both benign and malignant). Using lasers, concentrated light beams are directed at specific areas of the skin, precisely vaporizing the outer layers. This process helps stimulate collagen production in the deeper layers, leading to firmer, smoother skin. It’s sometimes called lasabrasion, laser peel, or laser vaporization, depending on the technique.

You’ll likely see immediate improvements in your skin’s appearance, and over time, it should continue to improve. The results can last several years, though normal aging will eventually bring back wrinkles or other skin concerns, which can be treated with additional laser resurfacing.

With proper aftercare, including daily sunscreen use, your skin will stay protected and the results of your treatment can be long-lasting.

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

  • CO2 Laser Resurfacing: This method has been used for years to treat various skin conditions, including wrinkles and scars. It uses either ultrapulsed light or continuous beams to remove thin layers of skin precisely while minimizing heat damage to surrounding tissue. Recovery time for CO2 treatments is typically up to two weeks.
  • Erbium Laser Resurfacing: This laser is ideal for treating superficial or moderately deep lines and wrinkles. It causes less damage to surrounding tissue, making recovery faster—usually about one week. It is also a good option for people with darker skin tones.
  • Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing: This treatment uses a laser to create tiny columns of treated skin while leaving surrounding areas untouched. This helps tighten the skin by stimulating collagen production but may carry a higher risk of complicated healing or scarring. Recovery is generally around a week.

What to Expect During and After the Procedure

  • Pre-treatment: Your skin will be cleaned, and a numbing agent will be applied to the treatment areas. For full-face treatments, general anesthesia may be used.
  • Post-treatment: After the procedure, a nonstick dressing is applied for the first 24 hours. You will need to clean the treated areas several times a day with a saline or vinegar solution and apply moisturizing ointments like Vaseline to prevent scabbing. Healing times vary depending on the area treated and the type of laser used, but generally, recovery takes between five to 21 days.
  • Healing: As your skin heals, it may appear pink or red, and you can cover the redness with makeup after the first few days. Healing typically takes two to three months, though in some cases, it may take up to a year for full recovery. People with lighter hair may experience redness for longer.
